Gestern an der Algarve angekommen und direkt mal ans Wasser.
Allerdings blieb es bei 2 Würfen, die Wellen und Strömung war einfach zu krass, da ist die 45 g Rute definitiv zu leicht.

Hi everyone!

I was recommended to post here after my introduction in the "User stellen sich vor" thread.

As I mentioned there, I moved to Düsseldorf from Japan this April. Back in Japan, I was a dedicated rock fisherman (Iso-fishing), hitting the Pacific coast every weekend for Seabass. I’m really happy to find a community here that shares such a similar style of fishing!

I’m now looking to gear up for the Atlantic coast. Could you recommend any physical tackle shops near Düsseldorf that carry specialized gear for sea bass and rock fishing? I’d love to see the equipment in person.

Also, if anyone is curious about how specific JDM gear or tactics are used in Japan, please feel free to ask! I’m happy to share my experiences.

Hast du dich vom Nays Video inspirieren lassen? Als ich das geschaut hab, habe ich nur gedacht: hätten die 2 mit Wolfsbarsch Ködern gefischt, hätten sie richtig abräumen können Den PDTR habe ich auch schon probiert, aber ohne Erfolg.
Auf den Fotos ist das aber auch kein Wolfswetter.
Den 120er nitro nutze ich ab 14g Kopf. Zu schnell gibt es eigentlich kaum.
Dranbleiben, einer kommt noch!

Yes, I was actually inspired by that.
I am an absolute beginner when it comes to sea bass, I only caught a few small ones in the Algarve in April 2022.
Accordingly, I'm still really unsure about spots, weather, lures, and lure presentation.

You probably mean that the weather is too calm, right?

Fishing isn't easy in the Algarve ... are you fishing the west or south coast? We found that the best spots on the west side were big boulder fields and the harder-to-reach areas. Most of the time, we were in wetsuits, wading or swimming out to the rocks. Sunrise and sunset are usually the most productive times, as the tides didn't seem to make much of a difference for us over there. Once the swell hits 1.5m on the west coast, fishing gets pretty tough. I've mentioned it here before, but definitely check out Grant Woodgate (Samson Lures) on YouTube

I tried reaching one spot on the west coast, but the road was to bad for the rental car (no 4WD).
I have until Friday, then the holiday is over.
I‘m good at climbing rocks, but I don’t have waders and already got soacked by the waves on the south coast, so the west coast might be even harder…
Until now I was only fishing evenings…Let’s see what I can do in the last couple of days

Ich denke ja mittlerweile, dass der Wolfsbarsch ein Fabelwesen ist. Kann mir niemand erzählen, dass der wirklich existiert.

Shit,
ich hätte nicht gedacht das es so schwierig wird zu dieser Zeit. Ich bin in gut 2 Wochen unten, das trübt die Vorfreude ein wenig. Aber die Kulissen und das Wetter sehen schon sehr geil aus und fangen das auf, komplettes Gegenteil vom Europoort.

Meine Reise beginnt in Lagos, die Westküste hoch über Nordspanien bis zur Bretagne.
Falls noch jemand Tipps geben kann welche Bereiche an der Süd- und vor allem Westküste hoch bis zur Bretagne erfolgsversprechend sind, kann sich gerne melden.

Zur Not gehst du halt Bass angeln
Ich bin sicher kein Maßstab was Wolfsbarschangeln angeht, aber ich habe die Vermutung, dass die Hauptsaison dafür vorbei ist.

Oh nein, die Hauptsaison sollte auch in P der Herbst sein. Ich weiß nicht genau wann die sich in P zum laichen zurückziehen, aber sonst sollten sie sich immer an der Küste aufhalten.

Regarding the tackle I used for rocky shore (Iso) seabass fishing in Japan, here is the lineup I can remember. I let go of most of these quite a long time ago, so my memory might be a bit fuzzy, but these were my main setups:
Rods:
Daiko Tidemark Storm Miller TMRSS-116/10
MC Works Paganism 106Z/R-S
Ripple Fisher MonsterImpact Avarice 116H
FCLLABO UC10
APIA Foojin' BB Monster Gale 110H
Shimano Exsence S110MH/R
etc...
In Japan, the mainstream choice for rocky shore seabass is a 10ft to 12ft rod that can comfortably handle lures in the 10g to 30g range. I used to choose the rod depending on the specific situation—for example, whether I was fishing in 15m/s winds or in calmer conditions.
Reels:
Shimano Stella 4000HG
Shimano Twin Power SW 4000XG
Daiwa Certate LT5000D-XH
Shimano BB-X Remare 5000DHG
System:
I typically used PE #2 with a 30lb to 40lb leader.

For other styles, I used a Shimano Exsence S1000MH for river and surf fishing, and a Shimano Ocea Jigger for offshore work.
